Under direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Associated will to be responsible for the creation and maintenance of financial files, records and databases.
The Illinois Power Agency is an independent State Agency created in 2007 to develop electricity and renewable resources procurement plans and to conduct procurement events to ensure adequate, reliable, affordable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable electric service for the default supply customers of Illinois electric utilities.
The Agency also conducts procurements and administers programs that promote the development of renewable energy resources.

gov/ Core Responsibilities Communicates with vendors to obtain timely submission of invoices for services and supplies received.
Assists in the creation and maintenance of financial files, records, and databases.
Verifies accuracy of vouchers and invoices in a timely manner.
Establishes and maintains vendor database in QuickBooks, SAMs and SAP system to record and receive payments.
Prepares voucher packets with invoices and all supporting documentation to submit in SAP and to the Illinois Office of the Comptroller (IOC) for payment to vendors.
Assists in posting and maintaining journals, registers, and ledgers.
Collects receipts and prepares bank deposits.
Prepares and processes Receipt Deposit Transmittals and corresponding vouchers for deposit.
Works with Agency employees and external agencies to ensure accuracy of financial records.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements Requires knowledge, skill and experience equivalent to an Associate degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
Requires one year of office experience including basic bookkeeping work.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills to interact proficiently with all levels of management and staff.
Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships including Agency vendors, and employees in other State agencies, departments, and commissions.
Quick learner with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, and proven ability to be resourceful, in a dynamic office environment.
Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge, skill and experience in Accounting, Business or Public Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
Two or more years State Government accounting experience Experience with QuickBooks.
Knowledge of the energy/utility industry and/or interest in renewable energy desirable but not required.
The Accounting Associate is prohibited from: (i) owning, directly or indirectly, 5% or more of the voting capital stock of an electric utility, independent power producer, power marketer, or alternative retail electric supplier; (ii) being in any chain of successive ownership of 5% or more of the voting capital stock of any electric utility, independent power producer, power marketer, or alternative retail electric supplier; (iii) receiving any form of compensation, fee, payment, or other consideration from an electric utility, independent power producer, power marketer, or alternative retail electric supplier, including legal fees, consulting fees, bonuses, or other sums.
These limitations do not apply to any compensation received pursuant to a defined benefit plan or other form of deferred compensation, provided that the individual has otherwise severed all ties to the utility, power producer, power marketer, or alternative retail electric supplier.
This position is not covered under any collective bargaining agreements.
This is a merit compensation position.
Position Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Position is a hybrid position with both in-office and remote days (unless otherwise directed).
