The job of Science and Sustainability Education Coordinator was established to advance the teaching and learning of science in alignment with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), while also fostering a deeper culture of sustainability across our schools in ways that align with Evanston’s Climate Action Resilience Plan (CARP).
The Science and Sustainability Education Coordinator is a member of the Instructional Leadership team and reports to the Director of Science.
The coordinator collaborates across departments to develop comprehensive guidance, resources, and professional learning opportunities aimed at enhancing our science and sustainability education programs.
The Science and Sustainability Education Coordinator supports administrators, instructional coaches, and educators with high-quality implementation of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and interventions.
Furthermore, the Science and Sustainability Education Coordinator seeks out opportunities to engage with a variety of stakeholders to accelerate academic achievement with specific attention to Black and Latinx students.
Qualifications:
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Science related field and a PEL in the State of Illinois.
Master’s degree preferred
Experience Required:
Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the area of NGSS-aligned Science instruction.
Minimum of 2 years of providing professional learning and/or instructional coaching in the field of science.
5 years of years of teaching experience in the area of NGSS standards aligned Science instruction is preferred.
