The Royal Group, a subsidiary of Schwarz Partners is currently seeking a Project Estimator to support our Cicero, IL facility.
The Project Estimator is responsible for reviewing all quote requests and developing a price for the projects assigned.
This would include producing an actual time study for performing the project from labor steps, folding and filling required to provide a project actual quote.
Once the project is being performed, an evaluation/audit of the project against the quote provided must be completed.
If there are any out-of-scope that incurred additional charges, this will be reviewed by the Process Control Manager for final project review and approval.

ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION: • Review all quote requests, which includes detailed message with drawings or CADS to provide an accurate quote.
The assembly instructions for each step performed and any detail information from the customer.
• Review re-runs projects with old production run results to see if any adjustments should be made prior to creating a new estimate.
• Review any postmortem information that had been completed for same project from previous runs.
• Review estimates vs actual labor steps during the first article process.
Communicates any “Out of scope” charges to the Process Control Manager for verification.
• Conduct random inspections of all ongoing projects ensuring that quality standards are being met.
• Maintain accurate and detailed files for all projects estimates, past and present.
• Maintains and develops “best practices” to help improve estimates accuracy.
• Conduct production lines time studies confirming that rates are being met in correspondence with the estimate provided.
• Works with Production Supervisors to help improve production efficiencies.
• Establish costs and budgets allocations to satisfy projects scope and customer requirements.
• Remain current in specific technologies necessary for effective project development and management.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or GED; plus, one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience desirable.
• Must have knowledge and the ability to use Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Remain current in specific technologies necessary for effective project development and management.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: • College education preferred but not required.
3+years’ experience in project estimator/management or equivalent.
• Efficient in Microsoft Excel and computer data entry.
• Experience in a manufacturing or corrugated box industry.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such operating instructions, instructions, and training and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write route reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees of the company.
Spanish comprehension and speaking.
• Requires strong mathematical skills using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, specific charges, cost proportions, and volume.
• Ability to solve practical problems and not so practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and scheduled form.
• Computer literate (MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook) data entry accuracy, application knowledge of products and production processes, and quality standards.
