Are you ready to combine your IT background with media engineering skills? WGN TV 9 and NewsNation Network headquarters, located in Chicago, has an immediate opening for a full time, IT oriented, Broadcast Maintenance Engineer.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide daily and on-going engineering maintenance and operational support for our large operation here in Chicago.
WGN and NewsNation are Nexstar Media Group (NXST) companies.
The national news cable network currently reaches 75 million television households across the United States.
Desired Experience and Skills:
Knowledge of current television broadcast and IT systems including Ross Overdrive, automation, ENPS newsroom, Bitcentral, studio and control room equipment including, cameras, wired and wireless audio gear, master control and airpath systems, satellite transmission and reception, etc.
Wheatstone audio, Ross Tessera and LED Videowalls/Processors experience a plus
Troubleshooting skills and ability to understand system drawings (AutoCAD experience a plus)
Must be able to read and understand schematic and signal-flow diagrams.
Knowledge of remote feed technology, Dejero, TVU, Haivision, etc is desirable
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Understanding of IP LAN/VLAN/WAN/VPN networking setups and architecture is a plus
IT skills including IP networking concepts and equipment, switches, KVM, storage systems, redundant computer system concepts, administration, Windows platform, etc.

Working knowledge of common television test equipment including signal generators/analyzers, scopes, etc.
Proficiency and experience performing cable installations, soldering, crimping cable connectors, including cable documentation, labeling, post-installation commissioning and testing processes, etc.
Excellent verbal, written and people skills, ability to work as part of a collaborative team
Experience in systems integration and installation a plus
Requirements:
Five (5) years' experience as an IT technician or maintenance engineer in a broadcast facility is desired
An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is a plus
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Knowledge of common business software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
This position will require shift work which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime as situations demand.
This position is under the jurisdiction of IBEW 1220, and union membership is required.
