Click for a complete list of Employee Benefits UIC is seeking an Assistant Director of Information Technology to join our College of Urban Planning & Public Affairs (CUPPA) team.
As a member of the senior leadership team within the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA), the Assistant Director of Information Technology (IT) will be expected to provide direction, leadership and management of all IT functions which include but not limited to: college-wide support and operations (hardware, software, purchasing, and inventory), generate and manage college-wide IT budget, represent CUPPA at various university meetings and on select committees, conceptualize and execute IT strategies and integrated IT services to keep CUPPA moving in a competitive direction, and collaborate with IT leaders and staff across campus to not only support CUPPA but campus wide initiates.
In addition, this role will provide direct IT guidance to the Dean, Associate Dean for Finance, Administration and Research Operations, academic Department Heads and Center directors.
This role will be responsible for managing all IT development, implementation, and the maintenance of information Duties & Responsibilities: Provide leadership to CUPPA administration, academic units, and centers; facilitate and support the information and technology decision-making needs of CUPPA.
Serve on the following university committees: ITLC (Information Technology Leadership Council, UISO (Unit Information Security Officers), UIC IT Directors; represent CUPPA as the Biennial Unit Contact and FabWeb Approver.
Serve as a liaison to the IT Security team on issues of mutual concern, including Active Directory, secure computing and virtual computing environments, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, standardization initiatives, and data backup/logging.
Ensures that CUPPA is adhering to all policies, procedures and regulations as they relate to the State Property Control Act; manages property accounting and maintains accurate records.
Prepares and presents annual IT college-wide budget to CUPPA Dean and Associate Dean for Finance, Administration and Research Operations.
Budget details include: funds for equipment repair/replacement, FaCT computer purchases, software paid through the university (such as Adobe Creative Cloud, ArcGIS, SPSS), software not provided/paid by the university (such as UrbanFoodprint), and IT related supplies for CUPPA Administration.
Manage purchases related to IT support (both hardware and software) using systems such as iBuy; ensure procurement policy is upheld with all purchase.
Purchase equipment and maintain accurate records for items covered by the university FaCT program.
Manages all aspects of Property Accounting which include but not limited to the biennial inventory using FabWeb, equipment disposal, and property labels Manage both hardware and software resources allocated for information system operations and instructional development.
Ensure that hardware is functional, and software is updated regularly.
Manage licenses associated with software.
Provide daily IT support for department seminars, meetings, events, and instructions including but not limited to classroom and conference room equipment, and virtual meeting platforms (webex, zoom, teams, Echo 360, etc.
).
Use Absolute Manage, Azure and Jamf to monitor, support all CUPPA computers (on-site or remotely), including OS update, software installation, user access rights and hardware, software, and inventory information.
Maintain CUPPA servers and oversee the electronic storage of documents and files to ensure FERPA is upheld.
Create and maintain college-wide database to track all university purchased equipment as well as related authorization for temporary off-campus use of University equipment forms.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or closely related field of study.
Minimum of 6 years of professional IT experience which includes 2 years’ experience at a supervisory or lead worker capacity.
Demonstrated PPO/PMO Project Management experience, which includes demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of a diverse IT project or multiple IT projects.
Define project timeline and resolve issues to ensure completion of project goals and requirements within defined timeline.
