*Overview of Lead Academic Advisor*
The primary purpose of the Lead Academic and Student Success Advisor is to provide individual, appreciative, and transformational advising to students on matters such as selection of major, course selection and sequencing, and academic performance.
In addition, the Lead Advisor will oversee the advisors within the college or unit and meet with advisors individually to provide feedback on a biweekly basis.

*Duties and Responsibilities of Lead Academic Advisor*
* Work with the Associate Dean and/or department chairs to provide feedback and help in addressing curriculum and scheduling issues or barriers experienced by students
* Work with other departments and units across the university to solve problems and collaborate while developing advising programs and resources
* Serve on the Advisor Council
* Essential to impacting the retention and success of Purdue University Northwest students
* Proactively reach out to targeted populations and maintain current and accurate records documenting individual student progress toward degree requirements while utilizing resources to support and strengthen communication and outreach with the assigned population of students
* Discuss with and refer students to the support services offered throughout campus and consistently provide a positive environment which assists students in their personal and academic growth and development

* Master’s degree in counseling, student affairs, or related field.
*Experience of Lead Academic Advisor*
* Three or more years of advising experience
* Leadership skills and a history of contributions to advising programs
* Demonstrated excellence in advising.
Utilizing proactive outreach to improve retention rates
* Proactively seeking ways to solve issues experienced by students through the development of ideas and strategic initiatives to implement change
*Core Competencies of Lead Academic Advisor*
* Ability to learn, understand, interpret, and relay the full range of student services available, including enrollment services, academic policies & procedures of PNW and associated federal & state regulations
* Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to provide constructive feedback to college advisors to enhance advisor performance
* Possess excellent written, verbal, organizational, and time management skills
* Adapt to changes and willingness to learn new things
* Initiate & maintain professional relationships with diverse groups & sensitivity to the needs of students
* May have to work evening & weekend hours during peak registration periods
* Strong interpersonal and human relations skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
* Completed the Appreciative Advising Training and Certification
* Bilingual Skills, preferred
