Position Summary: The Used Truck Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the sales team activity and growth for used commercial trucks, products and services to end users in the marketplace.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Manage Team to grow truck business and customer base to maximize profitability.
Achieve and exceed established goals and objectives.
Manage the Used inventory levels to control costs and maximize profitability – this requires constant attention to industry and consumer trends, and to dealer performance.
Partner with sales leadership and GMs to assist with Used sales in the facilities.
Work closely with Fixed Operations Teams and other departments/internal businesses to maximize sales volume/margin, net profit, and customer satisfaction.
Designate values on trade vehicles per market conditions as needed.
Manage sales effort/process to maximize customer touches and close deals.
Maximize effectiveness within assigned territory through utilization of all sales process tools, including phone calling, e-mailing, prospecting, cold calling and setting-up and fulfilling, in-person customer appointments as well as preparing and presenting customer proposals.
Develop and effectively manage on-going customer relations.
Review and oversee monthly commissions report.
Travel to all facilities quarterly to maintain relationships with GM, sales team, and other department personnel.
Maximize truck margins/profits across all channels by controlling and reducing cost of sale expenses within each of those channels.
Understand and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding commercial vehicle sales.
Identify and communicate to other departments, opportunities to penetrate customers within territory.
Perform other tasks as assigned and/or identified.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
A valid driver’s license with ability to meet insurance requirements is required.
A valid CDL or ability to obtain one is required.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
A thorough understanding of pricing and margins for profit is necessary to achieve excellent results.
Excellent sales skills including knowledge of prospecting, sales techniques, and follow-up.
Minimum of 5 years sales experience within the Trucking/Transportation Industry or a related industry.
Self-motivated with the highest degree of energy, self-confidence and integrity and the ability to perform well.
Commitment to high-quality accurate work, including numerical and financial data.
Ability to successfully negotiate with customers at all management levels.
Ability to work under pressure both externally and internally across department lines, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Exceptional customer service orientation.
Proven ability to exceed annual/quarterly/monthly sales goals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Some travel required.
