The Immigration Legal Services Case Aide provides support to HIAS Immigration & Citizenship’s immigration legal services program by: 1) meeting with clients to draft applications for immigration benefits; 2) working with clients to collect supporting documentation; and 3) preparing applications for filing with USCIS.
This position primarily supports individuals who entered the United States through the Uniting for Ukraine program and is grant-funded through September 30, 2024.
Responsibilities
Working under the supervision of a Department of Justice Accredited Representative, assist eligible individuals with the completion of application for immigrant benefits, including but not limited to, Employment Authorization, Adjustment of Status, and Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
Gather supporting documentation, draft cover letters, prepare application packets for filing, and maintain client files.
Follow up on pending case work and maintain communication with clients via phone, email, or mail regarding missing documentation necessary for submission of application.
Respond to all phone calls and email inquiries in a timely manner.
Requirements
Bilingual (Ukrainian/Russian) preferred.
High school diploma; some college or university preferred.
Experience working with immigrants and/or assisting individuals with immigration legal services preferred.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must have access to reliable transportation for travel to north and northwest suburbs.
