General Description:
Team Lead over Contested Pleadings in the Default Litigation Department.
Provides support to department representatives by monitoring and prioritizing workflow, handling escalated or complex issues, and serving as an expert on the services and procedures of the department.
Responsibilities - Include, but are not limited to:
Handles escalated and/or complex contested matters and activities with accuracy and professionalism.
Work with specialists to address escalated or more complex contested matters and provide problem resolution leadership.
Coordinate escalated issues to management and/or other departments as appropriate.
Monitor distribution of workflow to maximize productivity, including handling overflow and understaffed areas.
Identify and communicate to management issues concerning staffing, workflow, clients, procedures, etc.
Train new employees, serve as a mentor, and share knowledge and development opportunities to clarify guidelines and strengthen understanding of regulatory compliance and product knowledge.
Prepare and submit departmental reports to management as requested.
Partner with default servicing attorneys, when necessary, to ensure complex contested files are worked timely, accurately, and in accordance with applicable guidelines;
Review contested core and assign out contested files as required and needed;
Ensure all contested matters are handled and completed within the appropriate investor and required guidelines and timeframes;
Audit all submitted specialist contested documents, affidavits, etc for compliance with department expectations;
Audit reinstatement and payoffs prepared by specialists within the department;
Work with assistant manager in monitoring default litigation specialists and attorneys;
Monitor foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings handled by the Default Litigation Department; report to Manager and Litigation Counsel on issues presenting litigation exposure for Dovenmuehle;
Attend depositions, trials and mediations when Dovenmuehle is required to provide testimony related to debt or servicing functions; and
Generally responsible for ensuring all contested pleadings from default litigation department are compliant with regulatory, DMI and client expectations.
Assist department management in identifying, communicating, and implementing departmental standards.
Monitor and stay current in organizational policies and procedures.
Maintain high levels of cooperation and rapport with team members to promote accurate and efficient operations and service.
Formulate and communicate suggestions that may improve profitability and/or productivity.
Successfully complete annual regulatory compliance training.
Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
College degree or paralegal certificate;
3+ years’ experience in mortgage servicing
Strong knowledge of mortgage compliance and regulations
Solid PC skills: Proficient with Microsoft applications and mortgage servicing platforms
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle complex, multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Ability to coordinate multiple and changing priorities
Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact in a positive and professional manner at all times with all levels of both internal and external audiences
Ability to motivate others and serve as a role model for organizational and departmental initiatives, procedures, and values
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree, Bachelor’s degree or J.
D.
