Position Overview:
The Compliance – Health & Safety Manager supports the National Director of Safety and Compliance in executing any and all tasks related to occupational health & safety operations and administration for USM.
The Compliance – Health & Safety Manager enhances the National Director of Safety and Compliance’s effectiveness by performing administrative work, providing information / data management and representing the National Director of Safety and Compliance to others.
Reports to the National Director of Safety and Compliance and has no direct reports.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Executes development of a team-oriented company safety culture that emphasizes QEH&S continuous improvement, high performance and goal attainment
Aids the development of team members via corporate QEH&S training programs
Builds and maintains a network of support and relationships both internally and externally
Assists in the monitoring and enforcement of policies and procedures that have been set forth through the Corporate Compliance and other safety related programs
Supports managers and supervisors with team member relations and/or safety related disciplinary issues
Maintains compliance recordkeeping
Revises the compliance program in response to the changing needs of the organization, laws, and governmental policies
Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the compliance plan and the related activities to ensure they promote an institutional culture favorable to QEH&S compliance
Facilitates company-wide communication, committee, and overall team member participation
Provides strategic initiative support (such as the ISO 14001/RIOS QEH&S System)
Maintains team member safety, welfare, wellness, and health reports
Maintains the iDrive filing system, compliance calendar, and key contact database
Oversees the day-to-day efficient operation of the Compliance office
Writes, formats, and edits letters and other documents from draft to client-ready stage
Able to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the group lead and/or business needs of the operation; must be able to attend charity/networking/customer events after normal business hours
Travel as necessary
Prepares and continuously improves KPI reporting to management
Interfaces with the information technology team to employ, maintain, and continuously improve technology
Other duties as assigned
Desired Characteristics:
College degree and related job experience (5 years plus) preferred
Experience in a manufacturing / heavy industrial environment preferred
ISO / RIOS system and safety program experience preferred
Detail oriented, ability to lead a team, provide feedback, follow up and execute /complete open initiatives
The Company desires a candidate who has shown a stable job history, dependable attendance practices and whose references can state is a trustworthy individual.
Candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, background and credit check.
Able to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the group lead and / or business needs of the operation
Able to travel as required
Minimum Safety Training Requirements:
Basic on-the-job training that satisfies the Primary Objectives of the specific position (as noted above)
