POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general guidance of the Director of Quality, the Compliance and Risk Manager is accountable for ensuring a Chicago Family Health Center’s (CFHC) policies and procedures comply with state and federal regulatory and ethical standards.
Maintains development, implementation and enforcement of the organization’s Risk Management & Patient Safety initiatives and programs.
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and resource to the organization as well as assists management and staff with regulatory agency compliance activities.
The Compliance and Risk Manager will safeguard the organization against potential risks to its employees, clients, assets, and stakeholders including but not limited to non-compliance with established policy and identifying and mitigating patient safety risks.
Leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of the organization as well as supports the culture development and management efforts.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Risk Assessment & Policy Development Conducts risk assessments and audit to identify areas of risk within the organization and its current risk management plan.
In collaboration with leadership, develops and implements organization wide risk management plans, patient safety plans, and emergency management plans.
Develops and implements strategic planning efforts to mitigate risk Promote a culture of safety that views adverse and near-miss event reporting to continuous provide quality improvement and leads to development of process development to updates as needed Identifies opportunities for development of policies and procedures pertaining to patient care operations and safety to achieve compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards Liaison with departmental leadership to establish and maintain CFHC business operations as well ensuring alignment with the organization’s objectives and policies Works closely with clinical staff and quality improvement staff, providers, and managers to implement and maintain policies, procedures, and workflows regarding patient safety risk reduction activities Collaboratively partners with key department leads pertaining to investigation of safety events, including participation in witness interviews, medical record reviews, research, analysis, and action planning Develops and presents educational programs based on trend analysis and provides key input into the organization's quality and care transformation priorities Administration and Compliance/Reporting Oversees the organizations incident reporting system (Safety Zone) and implement a systematic approach for managing and minimizing risk throughout each clinic.
Manages the data needs and information flow for the program Analyze and aggregate industry trends for reporting to internal stakeholders, Board of Directors and regulatory agencies Receive, monitor and report on cases of violation in relation to internal business or operational/clinical policies Tracks patient complaint/grievance processes and collaborates with site leadership on resolution before they evolve into liability claims.
Also investigates, tracks and reports on any liability claims filed against organization/providers/staff Works with CMO and clinic providers to review perform risk assessment as part of the malpractice claims management process to ensure that providers are operating with their scope of practice and proper standards of care are being met Maintains current knowledge of regulations and standards, and update staff on federal, state, and local compliance requirements and acts as a safety and risk management resource for CFHC Staff and Supervisors Participates in auditing procedures and serves on task forces and committees to decrease organizational risk and promote patient safety as assigned In cooperation with CMO, coordinates peer review activities Develops monthly, quarterly, and annual reports detailing organization progress and presents to Leadership, Providers and Quality Improvement Board on a periodic basis Assists with the CFHC Employee Health and Safety program as needed Other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience A minimum of bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health Administration or related field required.
A master’s degree is preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in the areas of risk management or compliance.
