Position Purpose:
In the position of Corporate Counsel, you will be reporting to and assisting Sinai Chicago’s General Counsel with providing a wide variety of legal and support services to Sinai Chicago and its Affiliates relating to healthcare transactions, compliance and regulatory affairs, corporate documents and governance.
This position will be a hybrid position that will require both on-site and remote work.
Key Job Activities:
Serves as a resource to the legal team, on the regulatory compliance issues impacting Sinai Health System and its Affiliates
Reviews, draft and negotiate contracts for Sinai Chicago and its subsidiaries
Assists in the development of policies and procedures to promote compliance with state and federal laws
Reviews proposed legislation and provides feedback and/or proposed changes to Government Affairs team
Conducts legal research and provides guidance on legal issues relevant to Sinai’s operations and strategic initiatives
Participates in and supports internal operations, as assigned
Provides guidance and assistance to management, consultants, and outside legal counsel in a highly collaborative fashion
Works closely with outside attorneys and other consultants and manages outside counsel legal services when necessary
Education and Work Experience:
JD degree from an accredited law school
At least five (5) years of experience practicing law in relevant subject matter areas, gained either in-house or in private practice, with a track record of success
Experience in the following areas is preferred: health care operations, contracts, employment law, compliance and regulations (including Stark, Anti-kickback Statute, Civil Monetary Penalties, HIPAA, and other areas of regulatory compliance relating to the operation of a complex not-for-profit, safety net health system)
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Preferred in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems
Certifications/Licenses:
Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois or qualify for In-House Counsel designation

Category 3 - Job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens.
Incumbent does not perform or help in emergency medical care or first aid as a part of his/her job.
