JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-Time Building Attendant
Non-Exempt
Function
The Part-Time Building Attendant completes custodial and maintenance of park buildings as assigned.
Supervision Received
Responsible to the Facility Manager.
Supervision Exercised
The Part-Time Building Attendant is not a supervisor position.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
General Administration
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Knowledge of floor care practices, restroom sanitation and general custodial techniques.
Accomplish job assignments with a minimum amount of supervision.
Responsible for the care and use of all Park District equipment.
Responsible for completion of assigned jobs.
Perform all job assignments in a professional manner.
Maintain open communications with the Facility Manager.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
B.
Safety, Health and Loss Control
Support, promote and make recommendations regarding all safety,
health and loss control policies as adopted by the park district.
Require and ensure that he/she utilizes proper personal protective equipment provided for use in conducting assigned work tasks.
Notify supervisory staff of injuries or illness relating to task assigned in a timely fashion.
Be familiar with the Employee Safety Manual.

Customer Service Responsibilities
Staff will greet all visitors in a friendly manner.
Staff will be courteous at all times.
Marginal Responsibilities
Maintain work area in an organized and safe standard.
Complete minor repairs inside of buildings as directed.
Clean ventilation registers.
Remove snow and ice from public walkway.
Perform other duties as required by the Custodian Supervisor.
Psychological Consideration
Must work closely with co-workers.
Must work around general population/park patrons in public areas.
Must work under supervision and direction of supervisors.
Physiological Considerations
Will be exposed to chemicals (i.
e.
cleaning materials)
Must be able to lift and carry 100 pounds.
Must be able to lift, push or roll heavy objects without bending or twisting restrictions.
Must be able to stand, walk and climb.
Must be able to work at various times.
Must be able to work outdoors in difficult climates.
Environmental Considerations
Worker is exposed to outside weather conditions 5% of the time, including extreme heat and cold, snow, rain or ice.
Protective clothing is required as follows:
Earplugs, ear covers
Respirators
Safety goggles/glasses
Protective gloves
Disposable (chemical) overalls
Cognitive Considerations
Must be able to follow directions and perform responsibilities as
described.
Must have good problem solving ability and good judgement.
Requirements:
Must be able to operate vacuum.
Must vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors.
Empty trash.
Clean tables and chairs.
Clean drinking fountains, kitchen appliances and restrooms.
Fill and maintain soap dispensers, toilet paper, and paper towels.
Wash windows, walls and fixtures.
Replace light bulbs and lamps.
Strip and wax floors.
Shampoo carpets.
Periodic inspection of restrooms, locker rooms and showers.
Setting up tables and chairs for meetings as required.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
for 25-yards.
Policing and removal of debris in the immediate area surrounding the building, including all entrances and parking lots.
Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license.
Experience:
Previous experience with custodial operations is desirable but not required.
Education:
High School or Trade School graduate.
