Responsibilities of the Cook:
Prepare food in a timely manner in accordance with dietary requirements
Follow standardized recipes in food preparation
Inspect special dietary trays before service to ensure they are correct
May serve food on the food tray line
Supervise and/or assist in receiving and check in of deliveries of food and supplies
Follow work/cleaning schedules
Maintain a clean, organized and safe kitchen

Requirements:

One to two years of cooking experience required
Food Safety HandlerCertificate
Ability to interpret Resident Diet Cards
Experience cooking in a Skilled Nursing or Long-Term Care facility
Capable of following written and oral instructions concerning specific methods of the preparation of foods and beverages
Familiar with seasonings, understand cooking times and follow sanitation requirements
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Professional and personable demeanor
Must be willing to undergo a complete background check to determine eligibility for hire by IDPH
