REPORTS TO: DIETARY MANAGER/SUPERVISOR
*JOB SUMMARY:*
Performs work of moderate difficulty in the preparation of foods.
Work is performed in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, producing foods according to menus and standardized recipes.
Responsibilities shall include, but not limited to preparing, mixing and cooking ingredients, serving food and cleanup of cooking and serving areas.
Work is under supervision of the Dietary Manager and Supervisors.
*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:* (All responsibilities may or may not be required of all incumbents)
* Prepares appropriate foods, hot or cold, in a timely fashion for meal service
* Weighs and measures ingredient, properly using recipes in order to produce a standard product
* Operates various kitchen equipment as assigned, reports malfunctioning equipment.
* Reports unsafe conditions in the kitchen and suggests possible solutions to hazards
* Responsible for cleaning worktables and equipment, maintaining work area in sanitary condition
* Serves food on a buffet line
*Education Requirements*
* High School diploma or GED
* One year of experience preparing food on a large-scale basis
* Possession of an Illinois Department of Public Health Sanitation Certificate
*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*
* Ability to read and write simple correspondence
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions
* Ability to communicate information to dietary staff, residents and other employees of SHSRC
* Ability to perform math calculations
* Ability to follow security and safety regulations
* Ability to deal with specific food and/or staff related problems
* Knowledge of food preparation and cooking methods
* Knowledge of materials and equipment used in cooking operations
* Knowledge of health and safety standards in a food service operation
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.
23 per hour
