48 foot trailer for repair / parts / scrap: $150.
HAVE TITLE Most of the stuff inside has been removed since the pictures were taken.
The tree branches in front are also down.
Make: Evans Model: FA70 Manufactured: 8/28/77 GVWR: 60,000 lbs GVWR (front): 20,000 Model Number: VIN: 31198 It's been sitting right next to a tall building- almost touching it- for over 20 years, but it's been partially shielded from rain/snow by the building right next to it for that long.
This can be used for a storage shed; to repair OR salvage parts off of; or resold for scrap.
1) Use for storage.
Store things like you would in a shed.
This is much larger than most sheds- it has the volume of a 2-car garage.
It doesn't leak water from rain or snow.
It has an expired plate on it, but at least it has a license plate.
Registration probably isn't going to be enforced for a 1-time move.
On Sep 2, the tires were checked for air.
There is only 1 tire known to be flat- on the driver's side, rear, inside.
The driver's side rear outside seems good.
Out of 8 tires, 6-7 are holding air.
Some say a trailer can be hooked and driven without air brakes while empty.
In any case it should be driven slowly and in dry weather, but we have plenty of that.
On Sunday and/or at night would be good because of less traffic.
It's right near Route 6 (aka "159th street) locally), a Class 3 truck route- this accepts semi trucks.
Can you hook it up to a tractor? Answer: The branches you see in picture 1 in front of the trailer are now gone.
Need firewood? FREE FIREWOOD.
The branches are down though [see pictures 23, 24].
Therefore a diesel truck can be driven in front of the trailer.
Ideally a short wheel base picker or yard type truck with a tight turn radius.
If you can't drive it, perhaps a commercial tow truck would work.
2) Salvage part it out: The rims, springs, or axle parts may be able to be reused.
If salvaging, perhaps the spring or axles have a long life.
Older trailers can be up to 13,000 pounds, because modern trailers have been made lighter An average modern weighs about 9,000 to 10,000 lbs.
This means there is 6,000 to 8,000 lbs in steel.
3) If you're going to scrap it you can do it on the premises.
Bring a cutting torch, and/or a sawz-all (reciprocating saw), and/or portable ban saw and plenty of blades.
Most of the scrap will be iron, but there is a significant amount of aluminum.
A scrapper's dream if I ever did see one.
